The YouTube Premium catch

The cancel control is labelled Deactivate, not Cancel, which is why people scan youtube.com/paid_memberships and conclude there is no way out. Google also states that iOS users who are billed through Google (not Apple) must cancel from a non-iOS device such as a computer — the iPhone app only ever shows the Apple-billing route.

Will YouTube Premium still charge you after you cancel?

You will not be charged again unless you re-subscribe, and your paid membership benefits continue until the end of the current billing period. You can confirm it worked in the paid membership section at youtube.com/paid_memberships.

Refunds: No refund is documented for cancelling — it only stops future charges, with benefits running to the end of the current billing period; if Google Play billed you, Google Play's own refund policy applies instead.

How the charge looks on your statement

YouTube Premium usually posts as GOOGLE*YouTube Premium — which is why it can be hard to recognise when you're scanning a statement for things to cut.
