How to cancel Netflix— and check you're not still being charged
Netflix quietly raises prices most years and offers three tiers, so many people pay for a plan pricier than they need.
Steps to cancel Netflix
- 1Go to netflix.com/cancelplan (the "Manage your membership" page) and sign in
- 2Tap or click Cancel
- 3Under Cancel, tap or click Finish Cancellation
- 4Check for the confirmation email sent to the address on the account
- 5If no cancel option appears, open your Account page and look under the Membership section — you are billed by a payment partner and must cancel through them

Cancelling does not lock anyone out — Netflix's own explanation for charges after cancelling is that you or someone using your account restarted it, and the login still works during the wind-down. Netflix recommends changing your password afterwards with the "Sign out of all devices" box ticked.
Will Netflix still charge you after you cancel?
You can keep watching until the account closes automatically at the end of the current billing period, and you will not be charged again unless you restart; if the account was on hold, it closes immediately instead. Netflix keeps your viewing activity, ratings, recommendations, account details and gameplay history for 24 months, so the account is not deleted.
Refunds: Netflix's Terms of Use state that payments are non-refundable and that it does not provide refunds or credits for partial subscription periods or unused content.
Netflix runs $7.99–$24.99/mo — 12% more than the average streaming subscription we track (~$15/mo across the streaming services we track). Before you cancel, check whether you're also still paying for Hulu, Disney+, Max (HBO Max) — a common overlap in the same category.
The only way to be sure a cancellation stuck is to look at your statement. Finletix reads a CSV, PDF, or screenshot and flags every recurring charge — including Netflix, duplicates, and silent price hikes — without ever touching your bank login.
