How to cancel Chegg— and check you're not still being charged
Chegg often keeps billing students long after the semester — and the need — has ended.
Steps to cancel Chegg
- 1Open chegg.com in a browser on a desktop or laptop computer — Chegg's help page specifies this, and the flow is not in the mobile app.
- 2Sign in, then go to My Account.
- 3Click Orders.
- 4Find the subscription you want to end on the right and click Cancel Subscription.
- 5You are taken to a new page; click the orange Cancel Subscription button at the bottom of the screen to confirm.

The orange confirm button on the second page is the whole cancellation. Chegg's own help page routes its pause flow through the exact same first click: to pause, you also start by clicking Cancel Subscription, and Chegg then offers Pause for up to six months. If you accept that offer or close the tab at that screen, you have only paused and billing restarts automatically when the pause runs out. Keep going until you have clicked the orange Cancel Subscription button.
Will Chegg still charge you after you cancel?
You keep access to the subscription for the rest of your current billing period and you will not be charged again. There is no partial credit for the unused time.
Refunds: Chegg's Terms of Use state all fees and charges are payable in advance and non-refundable, including after cancellation, unless otherwise disclosed at the time of purchase.
Chegg runs $15.95–$19.95/mo — about in line with the average education subscription we track (~$18/mo across the education services we track).
The only way to be sure a cancellation stuck is to look at your statement. Finletix reads a CSV, PDF, or screenshot and flags every recurring charge — including Chegg, duplicates, and silent price hikes — without ever touching your bank login.
