How to cancel Google One— and check you're not still being charged
Google One storage plans quietly renew and often overlap with iCloud on the same household.
Steps to cancel Google One
- 1On a computer, go to one.google.com and sign in with the Google Account that holds the plan.
- 2Click Settings, then click Cancel membership.
- 3Click Cancel membership again to confirm; you should see a confirmation that the subscription is cancelled.
- 4On Android instead, open the Google One app, tap Menu at the top, tap Settings, tap Cancel membership, then tap Cancel membership to confirm.
- 5If you signed up in the Google One app on an iPhone or iPad, Apple bills it, not Google: open the Google One app, tap Menu on the left, tap Membership plans, tap Manage plan, tap Cancel membership, then tap Cancel Subscription on Apple's subscription page.
- 6For an older Drive storage plan, go to google.com/settings/storage, click Cancel under your plan, then confirm by clicking Cancel plan.

The free 15 GB is shared across Gmail, Drive, and Photos, so if you land over it, Gmail stops sending and receiving and messages people send you are returned to the sender, Drive stops syncing and uploading, and Photos stops backing up. Clear space before the billing cycle ends rather than after, and note that Google One purchased in the iOS app can only be stopped through Apple.
Will Google One still charge you after you cancel?
Your Google One storage and benefits do not disappear immediately — you keep them until the end of the billing cycle, then you drop to the free 15 GB shared across Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos. Files are not deleted at once, but Google says that if you are over quota for 2 years or longer, all of your content may be deleted from the account.
Refunds: Google says storage plan purchases are non-refundable in most countries or regions, with a documented exception for Israel (immediate cancellation with a prorated partial refund); Play Store and App Store purchases must be refunded by Google Play or Apple.
