Photos: Elon Musk’s New Tesla Diner Opens in Hollywood

The newest launch from Elon Musk’s electric vehicle maker is a diner.
Tesla just opened a new facility in Hollywood that’s part diner, drive-in, and Supercharging station.
Musk has been teasing a drive-in diner and theater since 2018.

It’s part diner, part drive-in, and no dive. (Sorry, Guy Fieri fans.)

We’re talking about the latest launch from Tesla, which, as some may be surprised to learn, is … a diner?

Located in Hollywood, California, the Tesla Diner — a classic diner and Supercharging station all in one — opened Monday (at one of Musk’s favorite times, no less: 4:20 p.m.)

It’s the culmination of an idea Elon Musk talked about as far back as 2018, when he floated the idea of “an old school drive-in, roller skates & rock restaurant.”

The Tesla Diner is in West Hollywood, California.

It’s part diner, drive-in, and charging station.

Tesla says the facility can seat more than 250 people in its two-story restaurant.

It has both retro and futuristic design touches.

It’s open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Wallpaper inside the restaurant broadcasts Tesla’s mission to diners.

The interior design is sleek and futuristic.

“Accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy,” it reads.

The menu includes classic American diner fare, like a burger and fries, with a twist.

You’ll find classic American fare on the menu.

The burger comes in a box modeled after Tesla’s Cybertruck.

Cybertrucks were also spotted at the opening.

One of these Cybertrucks is not like the others.

One Cybertruck at the diner’s opening had a DOGE-themed wrap, referring to Musk’s tenure as the de facto head of the government entity focused on cost-cutting.

Another Tesla product, its Optimus robot, was also on-site at the opening.

It helped dish up popcorn to fans.

Musk first announced Tesla’s humanoid robot, which is still in development, in 2021.

The diner’s website says it has 80 Supercharger stalls.

The charging stalls work with NACS-compatible EVs, Tesla or not.

These are compatible with electric vehicles from Tesla and a handful of other carmakers.

Besides the food and charging access, it’s also part drive-in movie theater.

Fans who showed up Monday saw “Star Trek” playing on the drive-in screens.

There are two 66-foot LED screens outside where customers can take in a movie.

The facility has been years in the making.

The diner has been met with some protest.

Musk first talked about plans for a diner in 2018. Tesla applied for permits for a “Tesla restaurant and supercharger station” in Santa Monica a few months later.

This is the only Tesla Diner in the world for now — but maybe not for long.

Another Tesla Diner may be coming to Starbase, Texas.

Asked if a similar diner might be opened near SpaceX’s Starbase in Texas, Musk said yes.
