JPMorgan refreshed its list of favorite stocks after Wall Street wrapped up an unusually strong September. The S & P 500 added 3.5% last month, rising to record levels, boosted by a Federal Reserve rate cut and data that showed the U.S. economy remained resilient even in the face of some signs of slowing. September is historically the worst month for the benchmark, averaging a 0.7% loss, according to the Stock Trader’s Almanac. As October begins, JPMorgan’s top stocks could help investors build on the strong September performance. The bank’s analyst focus list, updated monthly, now includes names such as Amazon , Carvana and General Motors . Amazon is the biggest laggard among the ” Magnificent Seven ” year to date, barely rising just 1% through Wednesday. But shares have soared more than 15% over the past six months. JPMorgan analyst Doug Anmuth has a price target of $265 on the dominant e-commerce platform in the U.S., signaling upside of almost 20% from Wednesday’s close. Analysts at the bank also see a strong gain ahead for Carvana, which they give a target price of $425. That points to a gain of almost 9%, based on where the car retailer ended Wednesday. Carvana has been on a tear this year, soaring more than 90%. Jefferies is also bullish on the stock, upgrading it to buy from hold on Wednesday. General Motors isn’t faring as well as Carvana, but has still climbed more than 15% in 2025. JPMorgan analyst Ryan Brinkman has an $80 price target on the automaker, or 30% above Wednesday’s close. Two other stocks that made the JPMorgan list are PulteGroup and chipmaker Broadcom . ( Learn the best 2026 strategies from inside the NYSE with Josh Brown and others at CNBC PRO Live.
